00 D16Y8 Manifold on 98 D16Y8 Engine Air Asset plugging holes
I just completed a swap in my 00 civic si (or ex model in teh states I beleive). The motor threw a rod so I replaced it with a 98 D16Y8. The car is an automatic model, and to make sure I had teh right IACV etc. I swapped the old 00 manifold onto the new 98 engine.
This being said I was not aware of the air asset holes and did not plug them. It seems from reading that the 98 head and 00 mani are not complatable without plugging the 4 holes leading to the fuel injectors.
The car currently surges at operating temp from 1000-2000rpm. It only surges when in park or neutral. Thsi surge is driving me crazy and I need to fix it. I am assumin git is teh manifold causing this issue, even tho I cannot detect any leaks using brake cleaner or carb cleaner where the manifold meets the block.
I have read that you can use JB weld to seal the air assist holes on the intake manifold, so I have purchased some.
My question is, because the IM is already installed and engine is in the car and running..is it possible to seal the holes with JBweld where they come out at the injector ports? To avoid taking off the intake manifold?
thoughts? Has anyone Ever done it this way?
Please let me know...

What 4 holes leading to the fuel injectors are you talking about? Pictures would help.
I swapped my 99 Civic with a 98 engine and I swapped the manifold over and it worked perfect. If youre using your original IM you shouldnt have any issues.
Post pictures before you JB weld.

Lizardslap thatnsk for teh link, I have read that DIY.
I know people say you can use JBweld, and it would be teh cheapest, easiest option for me. So im going to go with this approach.
I just need to know if it matters were I plug the 4 holes with the JBweld...

to my understanding it is the 4 smaller holes not being sealed properly by the gasket that causes the issue. The large one I just plan on plugging.
