Default Starter Noise When Cold - 2008 Odyssey

All,

Recently I have begun to notice that when the air temps are low (<40 F), the starter in our Odyssey makes a squealing bearing sound while it is operating. There are no squealing noises once the solenoid pulls the starter gear back in. At 60k miles, I would think it's a bit early to go replacing the starter due to bearing failure.

Any thoughts on this - could it be caused by something else? Is this a common issue?

I am considering pulling it out, and seeing if I can lubricate it somehow.

Can anyone guide me to a DIY on replacing the starter for this van?

Thanks,

Sam

Hi,
I have the exact same problem. Did you figure out what was going on?

Thanks a lot.
