unknown wire harness's need help
hey i have a 1990 civic with a mini me swap i dont have the stock harness -__- i have an engine harness and a jumper harness that i got with the car. they look real clean but i have no idea who makes them or what wires connect to what -p/o got the harnesses from a friend to do a swap but never did anything with it
im thinking about just getting the rywire complete stand alone harness n ending the headache but i figured id put a post up here see if anybody has got a solution before i drop that money
so the engine harness has 4 wires coming out loose
-Black
-white
-green
-brown
it also has a 4 wire clip that had wires into the "A" and "C" plugs? ill check the actual pin locations in the morning
those wires are
-brown
-blue
-green
-yellow
alright jumper harness is figured out:
-yellow (a25) power source
-purple (D22) sensor ground
-grey (D14) primary heated O2
-orange (D21) sensor ground
-green (D6) vtec pressure switch
-red (A17) IAB
-blue (D4) SCS
-brown (A6) primary O2 sensor heater control
-white (D3) knock sensor
-black (A4) vtec solenoid
now just to figure out the 8 wires coming out of the engine harness
again, anybody with any input is appreciated im looking to get it running sooner then later n id rather not split the harness to trace wires thanks in advance

oh and as far as teh obd1-obd0 jumper harness you can figure that one out on your own with the pinout diagrams of obd1 and obd0. doesn't matter what brand, just look at where the wire goes.
assuming your car is a base model or dx.
what you need to do is look at the ecu pinouts and see what wires those are specifically. phearable.net tech section has all the pinouts.
they probably did an mpfi conversion before, so the wires in A plug are probably for injectors and C plug is for the new sensor in the dizzy. It's been a while since I MPFI'd a DPFI car.

alright i figured out the jumper harness and posted it in the original post. now I have to figure out the 8 wires coming from the harness. I'm thinking i can maybe do a continuity test to one wire at a time and find out what they're for I'm thinking (hoping) the wires from the clip will run to the injectors/dizzy and the loose wires will hook up my O2. idk if a continuity test will work for that tho. And thanks for the link Canadian_EF
Continuity test will definitely help with those wires as well. You can keep your jumper harness plugged in and use the obd1 pinouts to verify pretty much any engine bay plug.
Happy to hear you're figuring it out.

alright so ive been playing with these wires for a little bit today and i traced the black white green and brown wires that come out of the engine harness to the O2 sensor so thats cool. im just trying to figure out whats what... off the actual O2 sensor i have
brown
blue
yellow
red
those dont match any of the colors ive found for O2 sensor tho there close but they dont match
also I counted the pins in the brown blue green and yellow wires off the 4 wire clip of the engine harness and i have the brown and blue hooked to A1 and A5 injectors 1 and 3, and the green and yellow are hooked into B10 and B12 the crank angle sensor...thats the same as the crank position sensor right?

traced the injector wires n ran them back to A1/5 then tested the continuity so those are in the right spots. i gotta do the same with the knock sensor the cps vtec pressure switch and solenoid. hopefully i can get this fired up soon.
also the IAB sensor, i have a wire to run to that ...this is the sensor closest to the TB on the back of the manifold yes? i have to see where to run that wire. it feels close now its been a while since i had the car running im getting pumped haha
If by IAB you mean IAC, then yes thats the sensor on the back of the manifold.
Also, that jumper harness sounds like a monotech. Not that it matters alot...

anybody got anything for the O2 wire colors i have? i know i only need to figure the neg/pos and the heater n control are swiitchable?
you may have to trace the o2 sensor wires back to the ecu pinouts to determine which is which. the last time i had to mess with a 4 wire on an obd0 car i had the instructions for the jumper harness and they had the color matches on there.
i have no where to trace back too the sensor clip just has those 4 loose wires running inside. i know d22 d14 a6 and a5 are where the wires will run to i just dont know what wires off the sensor do what. i peeled back the wrapping up front by the O2 sensor clip and i have
brown
blue
yellow
red
those wires are soldered to other color wires that are ran inside. ive looked up O2 sensor wire colors and it said id have
green/blue or green/white -ground(D22)
white or white/red -primary heated O2(D14)
orange/black -primary O2 sensor heater control (A6)
yellow/black -power source (A25)
these colors dont match up with what i have tho im gunna try and see what the actual sensor wire colors are for and then plug it in and check the wires that way

your not really looking at it the right way. many different sellers, companies or people who make jumpers and full engine harnesses (myself included) use different wire colors for each sensor or its purpose. it all comes dow to this:
find out which wire on your obd1 ecu plugs is at which location.
Brown wire @ __
Blue wire @ __
Yellow wire @ __
Red wire @ __
once you find out which wire is at what location then you can begin to diagnose if they were wired up properly at the sensor connector.
here is a break down of where each wire goes based on a standard female 4 pin connector (engine harness side, with wires facing you)
based on pic below

(A25)(A6)
