I already own these as they were off of my 2003 Cobra Magnaflow catback system that was damaged during a wreck and a whole new one was ordered and these were salvaged along with some of the piping.

This will be for a B20 swap into my ek Civic (B20 with a p8r head and 9.2cr). I will be using an RMF standard header that has a 2.5" collector. The magnaflow mufflers are 4x9x14 with 2.5" inlet/outlets and I do have some piping left over from it. Apologies for the lack of info in my original post I was mourning over my teams dismantling in college football even though it was expected.

 

Could you? Yes, but it will need to be custom installed.

 

You haven't told us anything about the inlet size of the muffler, or your current car's exhaust piping size, but anything can be made to fit.

 

Yes you are right I am lacking info in my post. 2.5" inlet with some 2.5" piping to go with it. I will be having a b20 with a RMF standard tube with a 2.5" collector installed in the next few months so I'm expecting to have a custom exhaust.

I was hit in the right side corner so the right tip and some of the piping was damaged. I won't be using the tips regardless but if I can use some of the piping I will. I want the car to be quiet so if I can't quiet it down with a silencer or something I may not use the magnaflows regardless but for money saving I'm considering trying it.

 

Those are a little big for a civic. sell them puppies and use that money for a great fitting one.

Eh, I wouldn't say they're big for the car - you can make anything fit behind that bumper. I've seen 24" mufflers welded in. I would say they're baffled wrong for a high revving 4 cyl, and will probably sound weird as hell.

 

too big, probably not. You could defiantly get them in there. Hell I bet the stock muffler is just as big.

 

What is the dimensions of the muffler? 4x9x14" maybe?

IF so...they should fit. I run that size with a 2.25" ID on my B20 Del Sol...Fits tight. If its on a civic coupe (or sedan) though, you should have plenty of room.

They are pretty quiet. Mine is a Center In/Offset Out. I don't know how offset/offset will sound w/ 2.5 ID, but mine is stock sound level at idle and up to around 2k. After that it makes a smooth, mellow tone that is not too intrusive and should not get you pulled over by the cops.

 

Measured the inlet/outlet and they are 2.5". I think 4x9x14" is correct but I'll double check...just measured and 4x9x14" is correct and so is the 2.5" inlet/outlets. I'm not sure how noisey these things will be but they look to be pretty straight through with only a slight bend where you can see out the other side

 

They'll be going on a non-vtec b20 so not that hight reving actually not any or much higher reving than the supercharged V8 they came off of.

 

Still not chambered right for that kind of motor. Completely different exhaust flow properties. It'll work, I just think it won't sound too hot. I promise you it won't sound like it did on the pony.

I mean, its not a straight thru muffler. Use a 18" or 20" resonator inline and you should be fine.

Should sound good if you can get the offset to work.

The thing with oval body magnaflow mufflers is that when you get a 2-1/4" in/out, its actually a 2-1/2" inside.

A shop I've gotten a few systems done at just orders 2-1/4" ovals because you can lop off the inlets and its 2-1-1/2..

At some point or another with a 2-1/2" muffler, there is the possibility of drone since the pulses will be spilling out at certain points....

But it shouldn't be to bad..

How would that be bad? I suppose my knowledge of exhaust is limited here. I just don't want a a 3" tip though I have one tip from the Cobra still intact.

 

Reason being is that the exhaust gas will expand and you will lose velocity.

When the correct size tubing is used, it will keep the gas compressed, allowing it to flow more efficiently..

If your hoping to gain power by adding one of these mufflers, your wasting your time..

But it should produce a nice sound...

If its to loud, get a longer resonator.

 

Well the collector on the header is 2 1/2" so it won't be getting any larger because the mufflers are 2 1/2" also. So are you saying I should reduce size from the collector out to the mufflers?

 

I'm not saying what to do whatsoever...

IMO though, 2-1/2" is kind of big for a D series..

A mandrel bent 2-1/4" would be more than sufficient..

My 4.6 Ford has true dual 2-1/4"... so that would be a 2.3 L on one bank..

RMF standard tube. Funny thing is a lot of people here would say it's too small but I'm with you I kind of wondered if it wasn't too big also even though it's claimed to be for 1.6-1.9l and not the B20.
