crap. about 2 weeks ago i got a ref ticket and i posted it here on the board. i had until nov.22 to go to court. anyhow, i got pulled over again by the SAME cop, SAME place and he gave me the SAME ticket for the SAME crap! he even added unlawful usage of my car!! all i got under there is an air filter. is this unlawfu of him or what? he said that if he sees me again, hes gonna arrest me. btw, im in san diego. what the hell is going on here.

 

is this a joke? Sorry but I laughed when i read it. If all you have is an air filter than what the hell did he pull you over for?

why dont u get the tickets taken care of? put your stock parts back on and complain to a higher authority. obviously, that cop is a ******** and hes just gonna keep messin wit u.

 

it has only been 10 days since my last ticket. of course im going to take care of the tickets but i dont want to pay twice for the same violations. im just frustrated on how this cop can just look for me. he did the same thing last time..slowed down on the freeway to pull me over. he even said..hey, there a familiar face!

im planning to pay the ref fee on the first ticket which is like $494. but there no way i wanna pay 494 twice and that other violation of unlawfully using my car in the road.
advice please..

 

my friend got a ticket for his exhaust and intake. it's called a "fix it ticket" because all you have to do is fix the problem, pay 25$, and show another peace officer that you fixed it so he can sign off your ticket. he just had some random cop sign off the ticket. the cop was like, "man in high school, i had this CRX and i did the exact same thing." he didn't even bother to look if my friend switched the I/E. i live in norcal, so it should be the same rules. i dunno why you gotta pay 500$ for that bullshit.

 

anyone else? this is not the regular fix it ticket. i wish it was so i can be on my way. thanks.

sucks to be you. normally you jus put the stock parts back on, get it written off at the CHP and pay 10 bucks to court. in los angeles neways...

 

Get an AEM intake and slap that CARB sticker on it and next time he pulls you over pretend as if you are scared and don't want him to look under your hood, then when you pop it open and he sees the CARB sticker laugh at him...

 

Dumb question but how can he write you up for the same thing twice? When I got a no front plate ticket, the cop said,"If another officer tries to give you a ticket, just show him the first ticket." I can understand if it's in another county but same? Oh wells, just get both written off at the sametime, same price. Go back to stock... San Diego huh, heard that racing scene is big there and cops ain't taking anything from anyone.. Just becareful there... Cops in LA too busy...

he knew about the first ticket since he is the same cop that gave me the first ticket. he even looked up the original ticket to re write me the second ticket.

 

im in the same boat, though i only have gotten one state ref ticket to deal with

im just gonna go to court on monday, bs on how the cop checked under the hood with no reason to.....and blah blah, and hopefully it will get dissmissed, if not ill just plead not guilty....and there goes another 2 months for another court date....

 

wtf is this, isn't that called double jeopardy, which last time I checked we are protected against by the Bill of Rights??

 

double jeopardy means if you get acquitted of a crime, you can't be tried for it again. in older Great Britain, they used to keep trying suspects for crimes over and over 'til they got a conviction

anyway, when you get a fix-it ticket, it means you are not supposed to operate the vehicle until the problem is "fixed." then you're allowed to drive it. technically, you were illegally operating the vehicle so the 2nd ticket was pretty much justified. what i don't understand is how can they fine you almost $500 for no front plate and an air filter??? that's "cruel and unusual punishment" (j/k)

hey since you live in daygo..you should call up mr. ticket to help you out with that crap. He charges like $99 bucks for the lawyer fee, but he sure can reduce that first and second ticket by at least half...search on google under "mitchell mehdy ticket" and it should come up...he gets peeps out of racing tickets with only a $350 fine and no impound for a month. It still leaves a point or two on your record but you save the $1000 from the daygo impound. You wont be disappointed.

 

Okay, I've went through the same thing.

Basically, the second ticket he gave you was a "Failure to comply" and is considered a moving violation and is considered 1 point on your driving record. You'll need to go to traffic school to have it removed. The 3rd time you're popped for the same offense, you'll get your car towed and your license revoked for up to a year. The former happened to me - I was pulled over twice by the same cop, Officer Rosetti of the Fremont Police Department, for having clear bumper lenses. I wasn't aware of the second violation rule and thought that it was only a fine. So I went to pay it at the court house and I thought that it was done with. Comes time to renew my issurance when I find out I have 1 point on my record!!! I go back to DMV and ask, which they tell me was from the second violation. Then, to straighten things out I go to the FPD to talk with Rosetti. This is when he informed me of the "Failure to comply" moving violation.

Well, the point took 3 years to leave my driving record, so I'm all clean now. But it sucked to actually get 1 point on my driving record for CLEAR BUMPER LENSES and not something like speeding or running a stop sign.

As for the Ref, I've been 3 times. You need to put your stock air box on to pass his test, unless you have the CARB # and the appropriate EO # as well. Everything has to match down to your year/make/model. They have a huge binder with all the legal aftermarket parts and their appropiate CARB #'s and EO #s

Good luck. If you need anything else, just ask cuz I've done a lot of researching about the laws in CA and experienced a lot of court time as well....

Well, if you're worried about it, the only thing you can do is buy street legal parts for your exact year/make/model and to make sure that you have the certifications for it. Keep all the paperwork in your car because some cops in CA love to ask for it. Also, try to stay away from exterior enhancements that are cop attractants - Blue Headlights, Clear Lenses, No Front Plate, Neon lights, etc....

This really doesn't make modding fun if you can't buy the parts you want, but at least you won't have the hassle of the police. Some will still harass you though but if all your parts are legal, then their case won't stand up in court. Or you can just ignore my post and do whatever makes you happy since that's all that matters, really!!!

cant i just go to court and say..what the hell is the cop talking about? my car is stock? he doesnt have pictures to say it ever was or do you think thats a big no no.

i have the jdm itr conversion too..and he says that i cant have an orange bulb in my turn signal housing. he says some crap about a reflector. well..just in case some of you may not know..the jdm itr has no reflector. what is cali law on the turn signals?

i gonna drop in a completly stock motor some time next week just in case i need to go to the ref. btw, my car is odbII wired as obdI..do they check for that? thanks!!
