Neuspeed Upper Strut Bar Question....
Hey guys,
I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX Sedan and it has 157,000 miles on it, but still runs very very well. I use it every single day of my life and i am an aggressive driver. Now I have always thought about getting an Upper Strut Bar, but never went for it because i was content with the way it handled for a daily beater. Now i am sick of the handling. Everytime i go into a corner it feels unstable, and it feels like i am piloting Naoh's Arc, not driving an Accord! Is the Nuespeed Front Upper Strut Bar worth getting for $100? http://www.tornactive.com/products.c...ef303f&PID=177 Will it improve my handling at all?? Will i still have dramatic swaying? My intuition tells me that the only way to cure the swaying is to buy sway bars and to lower the cars center of gravity. Please let me know what you guys think! Thanks alot!

IMO the neuspeed strut bar is one of the best in the market. it never twists and bends like those POS dc sports bars. i have one(black), and my car has much tighter turning than before but the rear is still loose. after i put on my rear s/t sway bar, i was very satisfied with the setup.
Yeah, if i go with this 1993 accord, I plan on picking up a front a rear strut bars from ebay for like $20 shipped each.
They should improve it at least some until I can afford the expensive ****.
How much are eiback pro kits? hot much does it lower it?

I am not a psycho!
I, personally am not looking to put that kind of money into a car thats worth only $2k, and is in half *** condition. First off i just had the car handed over to me last year, after 11 years of use. 9 years used by the original owner who than sold it to my father with 90k on it in good condition for about $5k and than after he used it for 3 years i get to drive it every day now to commute to college. Since we bought the car it has accumilated 67,000 miles, and has gained almost as much rust. Now i am not looking to put any major amounts of money into this car, and by my standards anything more than $100 is major amounts of money!
. And so my advice and therefore last post was put up for the person asking about the Eibach Pro-Kit to read and inform himself about the great opportunity out there to aquire great products for great prices! Thanks for being considerate and asking about my state of mental health!
You have a nice day now!
till you get all
I have the neuspeed rear sway bar on my 99 and it made a huge difference, in my opinion it made a much bigger difference than the front strut tower bar, it rides much tighter throught corners and doesnt roll as much in high speed banks\
just my two cents

Yes the Neuspeed bar is one of the better ones on the market. Get it. I'd use one but they don't fit over the valve cover of 4th gen hybrids. The Eibach Pro Control bar looks good and should be available at http://www.tirerack.com. As usual, anything made by DC Sports is total crap. I have this totally awesome Cusco front bar that I can't fit over my ABS reservoir. I'll fit it on someday, in the meantime I have generic ebay front tie bar, which is nowhere near as good as the Neuspeed.
Ok, sounds good guys.
I am going now to make my offer on the 1993 5speed with 130k on it...gonna offer $2000 then go from there, the AC compressor is bad...
Will update!
BTW,
anyone got an old ebay strut tie they wanna sell me for reall cheap? Cause I cant afford those springs or shocks yet.

my 1993 accord ex had maybe 120k on it when i put a neuspeed upper strut bar. it wasn't lowered or anything (it was my first mod). anyway, you will notice a change...it is worth it. it mostly affects steering response...not swaying. If you want to keep your car flat, you'll need sway bars and springs/struts

Well i might think about getting the Neuspeed front bar, atleast it will spice up my engine bay a little, even if it does not provide extreme amounts of performance improvement. Thanks man!
I say save another $100 & get a pair of sway bars. You'll find way superior handling.
Well, with 12 year old shocks, nothing you can do to your car is going to improve it much, other than new shocks. Sway (AKA anti-roll) bars are great, but your shocks are most certainly dead so that'd be a waste.
As you can se in my post here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=310905 strut tie bars really do take a lot of stress that would otherwise go into chassis flex.

Go with a rear anti-sway bar only. The $160 I spent on my S/T rear bar 4 years ago was WELL worth the price. You will definitely notice a huge improvement, no more pushing... my car handles almost neutral.
Yes.
I forgot to mention that. Keep stock front sway bar and just get an aftermarket rear sway bar should you choose to go down that road. I also paid $160 for my S/T 21mm rear sway bar. E/S polyurethane front sway bar bushings are good and cheap.

Front, ind, lower control arm, upper control arm, radius rod, 23 mm (I think) hollow sway bar.
Rear, ind, trailing arm with two lower control arms, one upper control arm. I'm sure the 92+ EX had something like a 13 or 16 mm rear sway. I don't think the DX/LX had any sway bars. I'm not sure if the early 4th gen EX had rear sway bars.

PS coil-over shocks all around.
AFAIK only the newer Civic/RSX platforms (or really old Hondas) have "struts."

I'm sure you know what a coil-over shock is.
What would you buy to replace them? Well, you just need shocks that fit an Accord. OEM, KYB, Koni, Tokico, Bilstein, hell even Monroe take your pick. Springs don't go bad usually, but if you want stiffer or shorter springs there are hundreds of spring kits out there. If you are planning a hybrid you should know all this stuff already. No offense like.

I am thinking just replace the rear shocks since the front ones were replaced last year, and get Tokico performance shocks, and get a S/T front and rear anti-roll bar kit. What do you guys think about Neuspeed SofSport Springs? Any good?
I said i wanted to use tokico performance shocks and maybe use neuspeed sofsport springs. I also stated that i wanted to get the S/T front&rear sway bar kit. read more carefully boss. LoL. its all good, no aggressive responds going to flare in this post! Do you think i should spend money on the accord right now? or save up for the upgrades on the EK? Give me your thoughts and opinions![Modified by MJ23FE, 3:56 PM 10/19/2002]
