Default Idling at 1500-2000RPM and Gas Guzzling with my new B16A

I just recently installed a First Generation B16A into my 91 CRX Si and when it idles, it fluctuates between 1500-2000.

Also it seems to guzzle alot more gas than my D16A/Z.

Do I have to retard the timing and check the tension of the throttle cable?

I do believe that means the iacv is out or clogged. It's the thing on the backside of the intake manifold. Unplug it first to see if it calms down your idle. If it does, Unbolt it (2 12mm bolts) clean it out with brake cleaner/carb cleaner, and then bolt it back in.

It will use more gas because of the way it's set up compared to the single cam D16.

Thanks.

My car just died today because the alternator stopped working. The guy who helped me install the engine didnt make enough room in the engine bay for the alternator so we had to loosen it up and put on a smaller belt (29.5") and was very tight compared to the normal belt (30.5"). Im guessing the alternator was damaged because of the tighter belt and the loosened alternator causing an uneven rotation on the wheel of the alternator causing it to break.

Looks like maybe I need to find a way to fit the alternator by banging the metal or cutting it open?

For original problem, check for CEL codes and, if you find any, post them.

Also test the ECT sensor, clean the IACV, and check whether the throttle cable is adjusted too tightly.

Most people banging the wall a bit. I did that too.. a little too much. I dont know how you gonna bang it with the engine already in. Maybe air gun hammer.
