Default 96 del sol ecu swap problem

Ok the car is a 1996 del sol SI that originally had a d16y8 manual

Picked up a p2e ecu to get rid of the vtec CEL and now I got

Code P1509 and No idle with heavy stumbling when gas is pushed

I was fairly sure this ecu would work came out of a 97 dx non vtec

The IACV is the problem. Y8s have a 2-cable iacv, while the dx ecu is set to pick up a 3-cable.

Forgot to put: you can either find the correct ecu (p2p with vtec), or you can run the cables yourself to the harness. Its not too difficult to run, but regardless, you will have issues with vtec. Id pick up the correct ecu if i were you.

Im looking for a nonvtec ecu my manifold is wired for the 2wire stock

I swapped the motor and I have no vtec on this motor just dangling plugs where it would go

Currently have a obd2-a p28 that came stock and I know there normally obd1 but not in 96 and 97 del sols but throws CEL's cuz no vtec hooked up

do they make any that take the 2wire and no vtec ecu's or can I swap a 3wire iavc to my stock y8 manual manifold?

Wait, you lost me...you said your car originally had a y8...if you swapped it, whats in it now?

If you want to put a three wire iacv, youll need to close the openings on the y8 mani (or get an auto one, autos dont have the holes) and use a y7 tb, that have the iacv on the tb. Then with the non vtec ecu you wont have to rewire the iacv. Someone correct me if i got that wrong...

But why was your vtec light on, was the solenoid bad? You can rewire it to the oil pressure switch, the ecu will pick up vtec and it would kick in. Although thats what i did on my ex ecu. Im not sure if its different on yours, i had no idea p28s ran obd2a.

car is a y7motor with a y8manifold I have no vtec pressure switch or solenoid on the motor and thus throws p1259

the y8 that was in it blew up when the prior owner ran it with no oil

ya that p28 only came in 96 and 97 del sol SI's so its not common no idea why they used that designation on it when they already had an obd1 p28

I see, so you're running a y7 motor with a y8 mani and non vtec ecu. The problem is still the iacv wiring though. Y7 non vtecs run a three cable iacv, mani runs two...ecu is not picking it up. You can swap the y7 mani if you Have it and save yourself a headache, or you can close the y8 iacv holes and run the y7 tb...or you can get a y8 auto mani and run the y7 tb. Keep in mind your harness does not have the third cable needed for the y7 iacv( the orange one). Youll have to do run it yourself regardless.

Note: youll have to change the rotor from the y8 to the y7 if you want to use the y7 tb on the y8 mani. The throttle cable wont slap on it
