I'm gonna guess power steering pump is failing? Remove the p/s pump belt, try turning the pulley by hand. If it is gritty or difficult to turn, you have a bad pump. If the fluid smells burned, you probably have a bad pump. The car is easily driven without the p/s belt installed, don't delay investigating further.
