Default Faulty Master Cylinder?

I've been having trouble with the brakes in my 1990 Honda Civic EX, getting the squishy pedal at stoplights, so I thought it might be the master cylinder, but I haven't done anything about it yet. However, now that the weather has been colder, I haven't been getting the squishy pedal at all or any other problems with the brakes. Any idea what's going on here?

I had the same problem and it was indeed my brake master cylinder. I put in a 15/16 bmc out of a 1991 si hatch. Brakes are amazing now.

Squishy?
Or did the pedal sink to the floor so that you had to lift your foot and press again?

I was under the impression that:
STD, DX, HF - 13/16" master cylinder
Si - 7/8" master cylinder
90-91 EX sedan - 15/16" master cylinder

Either way, if you're going to replace your Brake MC, replace it with one for a 90-91 civic sedan EX. It should say 15/16 on the side of it, easy brake upgrade.

Thanks for the info.

Any reason why it's not being problematic in the cold weather though?
