Kid-Vtek's EK build "lets try this again"
Well it didnt take long but i ended up crashing my last project car shortly after owning it.... sigh i had such big plans for her (SC RSX type S)

But i happened to stumble accross this diamond in the rough and since i had always wanted to build an EK i figured why not now!

Shes a 96 Civic DX with a B18C5.

i salvaged my J's racing exhaust off my RSX and surprisingly it fit pretty dam good on my EK with only minor welding (not of the J's exhast but my factory muffler)

Before i got into mechanics i used to detail cars for a living and ive been itching to polish this car ever since i bought it, i no its going to be repainted later but the sun damage and stains killed me everytime i looked at the car.

These things are great! no shopping cart ride that usually comes along with coilover install.
i also got some custom made spoiler risers they turned out great!

4x114 brake conversion and wheels!

99-00 front end conversion

A friend recently purchased a K swapped EG6 took me for a ride and i was throughly unimpressed lol my EK can hold its own with the Type R engine against it. So with my new found love of the B series she is coming out over the winter and being preped for a turbo. Ill be forging the internals, upgrading cams (pretty set on GSC power division), upgrading the valvetrain, and going with a GT3076 turbo. i have ordered fresh rear quater panels so once the engine is out it can go off to paint. At the shop i work at we specialize in Porsche so one day we got a 997 GT3 in for routine service and i fell in love with the color, ill be painting her GT3 Grey/black it looks amamzing!

CTR side molding ordered, they are much thinner than the CDM model trim nothing crazy just look much cleaner

Front lip is ordered. I'm a big fan or Spoon and Mugen but it seems everyone and thier uncle has those lips and me being me I like being "different" (yeah I no coming from a guy who is boosting a B series). Any ways I went with a First molding lip. This is my first CF lip and I'm not really a big fan of CF lips but they don't come in urethane or fiberglass so I guess it will have to grow on me.

I'm trying my best to tie up my exterior mods before she hits the paint booth so I did some googling of how much I will need to modify my bumper to fit my IC. Some guys go to town and hack up the bumper because the opening on the lower grille isn't larger enough to accommodate a standard IC core. I don't like this.... Soooo I came up with a more interesting idea. Uras triple air duct. I see that stock EVOs and GTRs use this method and I looks pretty cool I must say so myself. Functional and good looking? Yup ill take it.

I was trying to figure out how to feed air to my turbo so I figured I'd need some kind of inlet and ducting to let air in. I really like the idea of have a head light with a duct in it, but driving around with only one illuminated head light is dangerous and probably illegal. I started looking at brake ducts and didn't like most of the fog light ducts on the market.... Just too plain. So I opted for one of these, I'm sure Ill find a way to retro fit it on.... Hopefully lol

And finally enough of the front end lets focus on the assay. When I had my RSX I purchased a shine rear diffuser from a S2000 which I was planning on retro fitting onto it but I didn't get around to it. So it will be going on the EK, from what I read it take A LOT of trimming but fits quite nicely. And I figure if Spoon put one on thier track car it must make it quicker lol

Small update:
I ordered my wheels today, by far the most expensive thing I've purchased for t build so far so I wanna keep it under wraps. I will say this they are 3 piece forge wheel, 16x8 +26 and made to order... More to come

Nice build so far. I was thinking to myself when you got the wing, "Thank god... no wing tilt." Then I read further.... =\ Funny how one wants a diffuser to be functional, but converts their wing into an air brake, lol.
Will be interesting to see where it goes though. And as for the wheels, from those specs, it feels kinda obvious. CCW.

Finally got around to removing all the interior except for the dash.Ii am leaving in place for now because once the engine is out (hopefully this weekend), i will be relocating the fuse box to the glove box and i need the glove box in place so i know how to route my wires.

im having a hell of a time removing the sound deaden material... ive read on line that dry ice works wonders but i have no idea how to handle it or where to find it. Any input on how to better remove it is much appriciated!! :-\
How she sits now

could have been a cool pic if i had a better camera lol

Roll cage soon to be ordered and then welded in place before paint, im looking for a place to get this done. From my understanding the best or "professional" way to weld in a cage is with the vehicle on a jig... not sure if this is necessary

definitely use dry ice, me and my buddy have done it twice now in two of his car, just use leather gloves, its not harmful, just cold, it should come in little cubes just like ice cubes, spread them over the sound deadening, wait a couple minutes, youll start to hear it freezing an cracking, give it a good maybe 8-10 minutes, then remove the dry ice, and hit it firmly with a rubber mallet, it should break off in chucks pretty easily , get the remaining little bits with a chisel ,,, and the leftover residue left on the floor, just use some goof off or any kind of adhesive remover and it should come up fine
also with you itr rear seats, you are going to need to use jdm 4 door itr rear seat bottom section, if you want it to fit perfect, the 2 door rear bottom section will leave a gap between the top and bottom section and wont reach the sides ,,,,, you for the upper section you need use the civic inner seat frame, remove the stock civic cloth, then install the itr cloth onto the civic inner seat frame,, the upper will fit perfect after this

Your 100% right lol after I toom the picture I noticed the same thing contacted the seller and we got it straightened out I have proper right and left sections now. As for the rears I don't think ill be installing them, since ill have a cage no one will be able to use the rear seats and how my cage will be running it would interfere with them anyways. I haven't decided if I want to keep her stripped out or not I think ill hate it in about a week from all te road noise but we will see

You should do something new, that people DON'T like so that you can be original...and hated.
HIPSTERS, CHIME IN!
O_o
Nice build man, and great color choice!

began stripping the sound deadening material today. I am amazed at how well dry ice works! unfortunately i under estimated how much i would need and i only had enough for the front section of the car. i showed a friend that stripped his interior on his old integera and he was not pleased at all, he said it took him 2 days to clear the section i did which took me an hour tops lol.
it pretty cool as soon as you put the ice on the surface u can hear it popping and cracking

if i can get an engine crane lined up for tomorrow im going to try my best to have the engine out, more to come!

Thanks for the support guys!
I didint want a lack of dry ice to stop my progress tonight so i set my focus on the engine removal. dropped the fluids, removed the rad which happen to **** the bed.

Started removing the harness. this is my first Honda rebuild so i labeled every connector and vacuum line

All thats left now is axle removal and motor/transmission mounts!

Shes calling to me

Well i wasnt able to get my hands on a engine crane until today, big thanks to Mike and Matt B. for getting me one!
I took off the bumper so i could start trimming it for my intercooler core if i got bored

and i found this, PnP anyone?

took a brake to shave my *****

i needed to remove the axles. Yay for princess auto quality

time for an upgrade

I had a hell of a time getting the pin for the shifter to come out and not having the right tools for the job dont make things any easier, but i modified a random bolt to do the job

and with the magic of the internet

Engine bay is going to get a good scrub down. ill be starting my wire/brake like tuck soon!
