ls tranny stuck in 2nd gear help!!!!!!!!
ok so heres the story i was racing a gsr and a b20 vtec from a 20 roll i threw it into send perfect but missed third now my tranny has no neutral and no gears other than 2nd i put the shift **** in the reverse position(reverse gear) and its still in 2nd gear lol, i was reading everywhere and found out that i might have broken my 1-2 shift fork i just wanted to confirm this with some of the tranny experts on here and maybe get a write up on how to to this i also have a 91 ls cable tranny laying around for parts and wanted to know if i could use those parts in a 92 ls tranny(btw the difference between the two is the 92+ can use the same clutch because of more teeth on the input shaft but idk bout the internals) my setup is n 1992 ls with ls cable tranny in a 90 crx
lol lmk guys and thanks in advance

The fork setup, cases as well as the internal gears are different. There may be some interchangeable parts depending on the case code of your other trans. Here is a write-up by HondaBull that is good guide to walk you through it. Feel free to ask me any questions if you get stuck along the way.

I was also reading that missing a gear should not have done this to my tranny and was wondering if my welder either welded the shift linkage wrong or cut it in the wrong place I have a crx with a b series swap so I cut the integra DA shift linkage, it would make some sense because I have always had problems with putting the car in first gear from a stop maybe 6 times out of 10 it WOULDN'T go in on a bad day any advice would help and thanks James I now understand how a tranny works a lot better than before
Also if it helps at all I would end up putting the car in second gear just to get it rolling and then drop it back into first gear... But sometimes I force it into first when I'm at a light or something

Yea I did all that after James told me it was different and found out it was but wanted to know if the shift linkage would cause somethung like this?
yea but it would shift into 1-5 when i was moving prefect it only gave some trouble from a stop and yea i checked my linkage before dropping the tranny but how does shift linkage bind?
Remove the shift linkage and shift direct at the transmission. If it shifts into all gears..then you know the shift linkage is the problem. If you get the same results. Then you may have an internal problem and need to get the transmission opened up and inspected. Also be sure to check your clutch adjustment. I had a cut and welded shift linkage in the 90's way before they were easily available(yes I am old). It was never quite right. Swapped over to the correct shift linkage eventually and never had a problem since.

Thank you that's the answer I wanted I guess my shift linkage was the problem but since I already dropped the tranny might as well open it and replace some synchros and I guess I'm gonna get the hasport shift linkage.
No problem! Get it opened up and see if anything needs to be replaced. Would be a good time to freshen up the trans.
