depends on the bike, for instance ive had three 2008 gsxr 750s, still have two of them, and i put a jardine gp1 exhaust on each of them. it sells for around 250, and in exhaust terms, thats cheap as fack. but the pipe saves over 20 lbs. and you literally feel like you're riding a completely different bike. sounds like sex too
cosmetically i like the clean look of a crotch rocket with no mirrors. they make LED turn signals for just about every bike that are flush with the fairing, and they're cheap. get yourself a clip-on mirror to stay street legal or go without if you're feeling lucky.
for performance the cheapest thing i've bought is a TRE(timing retard eliminator)
for safety you should never be cheap

Matt, do you ride? and why so intent on sliders? I put sliders on my wife's Ninja, and plan to get them for my Monster, but I liked the fender eliminator as my cheapest mod.

Its a toss up between my fender eliminator with has a bright LED and looks really cool at night or my matte black short adjustable levers that feel really nice. I just ordered a BMC race filter and I hope it makes it sound better.
I need something like that, I hate going out to eat and having to stuff the left overs in a plastic bag in my jacket. I would want something that goes on tail.
Another good idea would be to velcro a removable phone case to the bike so you could use navigation and also see your calls.

Free on some bikes - flipping shift lever.
On my 919 it was the cramp buster - $11, and Renthal bar - $75.
On any of my bikes, tank grip - $40.
Cramp busters won't work on bikes with sport riding clip-ons.

You cut a zip tie and superglue it over the channel where the pull cable sits. Re-assemble with the cable over the top of the zip tie.
The larger diameter vastly increases throttle pull.
I used a cut up credit card and made it profiled so my throttle snap was progressive. I can snap a few pics of my throttle if you would like.
