Can someone identify this sensor? 1998 Accord
Hello,
While pulling an F23A1 engine from my '98' accord I broke a sensor. It sits just beneath the Distributor and between another sensor and a coolant inlet. I looked in the Service Manual, but I can't find any section or parts list that indicates what this part is. Searching through google the nearest or best explanation I could find was it is a coolant temp sensor, one of two ( they indicated that both sensors were for coolant temp).
I am including the following photo.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Vegas,
Thanks. After you supplied the name I was able to then find it in the service manual. It was under PGM-FI System, component location index.
Also, most places were charging over $110 for the part, but I found one from www.chandlermotorsports.com for $9 + Shipping. Seems awfully cheap... the old adage, "you get what you pay for" scares me. I also thought about epoxying the plastic part back onto the metal bolt, as the plastic is what broke... but not too sure this would work. It's supposed to be a microphone that listens to the engine for frequency harmonics and allows the ECM to make corrections.
Again, thanks for you help.

You were correct with your original description. The 2 wire sensor is the engine coolant temp sensor that the engine control unit/computer uses and the single wire sensor is the ECT sensor that goes directly to the dash cluster for the temp gauge.
I confused this post. I actually broke both. I the ECT I broke from the start trying to stick a socket on it to see if it would come off. I allowed the wrench to tilt one way, which wrenched the tip right off. And, I also broke the knock sensor while trying to undo a brace on the back side of the engine. The plastic housing or cover broke off, but the sensor itself still looks good. I bought a new one for the $9. I still need to get the ECT; I will look to a local JY. Thanks for the tip!
