Default Race Transmission Recipes.

Hey HT, I been working on GSR project for the past 4 years now. I recently bought the last of the parts to get the thing running. It ran great and 2013 is going to be a fun year I hope.
I want to see 900Hhp+/-. I currently have a GSR Transmission that I did some work on Replaced, 1st/3rd/5th and upgraded from Rollers to Ball Bearings.
I am not well versed in the Transmission aspect yeat. To this point all my focus has been on the Motor, Turbo, Fuel system, Tuning Hardware and etc.
Now that part is out of the way and off to the side ATM.

I have heard of going Carbon, i've also read about Coating and Heat treating the parts.
MFactory is a company I plan to get in touch with on Monday. I would like some experienced peoples opinions on this part of the project.

What can I do that will(should) hold up for at least a few seasons.

Or should I just be saving up for the PPG or Liberty Gearset and Billet Bellhousing like I really want? After about $25,000 in this project already the $8000+ for that, is like trying to bend over and bite my own dick off, I just don't think I can do it.

Give me some Options/Companys/Prices/Advice to go off if you guys can. Thanks in Advance for any help given

With those kinds of projected numbers, a dog box is in order

Stock transmissions with treatment, even with a cuff don't see much past 700hp for to long. See them blown up on a daily basis.

If you have invested that much already. Don't cut corners with the transmission. Putting the power to the ground is just as important as making the power. Everyone seems to forget that.

Agreed, don't cut corners. Dog box it and be done. Quite a few options for them now, even some good USA based companies.

It depends on how much power you actually make, weight of the car, and size of the slicks you run. Dog or synchronous engagement doesn't affaect the strength of the gears. Higher power setups typically have a high shift point (9,500+) which will eat through synchros (even carbon-lined synchros) at a fast rate (yearly refresh minimum if you run a full season). Dog engagement will also alleviate any shifting issues you might see at that RPM with that amount of power when using a synchronous gearset.

Since you mentioned MFactory, the only gear set that MFactory has to meet your goal of 900whp is the PRO Dog gear set. It is dog engagement and rated for 1,000whp. It is still currently being tested but is due for a tentative release at the end of January. It includes 1-4, hubs, sliders, FD, and handcuff. The other gearset MFactory has for high power setups is only rated for 700whp and in synchronous engagement.

Between any of the other manufacturers I would pick Albins. Their design, cost, and ease of replacement is better than the other options IMO.

You will need a billet bellhousing if you want it to last.

Go ahead and plan on a bare minimum of 7k if you buy everything new.
