Oil on my spark plugs?
I was changing my plugs today and when I pulled out my 2,3,4 plugs they were dripping oil.I did a search and almost everybody said it was the grommets in the valve cover then some said it was the rings.I have an LS engine and I wasn't sure because I replaced my valve cover gasket and the seals not too long ago.
Most likely it's those 4 rubber grommets that go on top of the spark plug holes on the bottom of the valve cover. Clean out all of the oil, and replace all 4 grommets w/ brand new ones, and torque your valve cover down to spec. That will most likely fix it.........if it doesn't.....then im not sure
The sparkplug o-rings on the valve cover may be bad, mine were so i used some gasket sealer underneath them worked for now but im gonna buy some new ones soon. I also have a ls.
If your piston rings were bad it mostly likely wouldn't be dripping oil - also your exhaust would be pumping out a ton of smoke.
It wouldn't hurt replacing the plugs after you replace the seals (add some ultra black gasket maker to create a better seal)
