Drive ratio 4.10 - 4.44 - 4.57 - 477
Are the popular gear ratio on the s2000.
What about 3.92 on S2000, anyone using this drive ratio?
I need some comment or feedback: I have AP1 s2000 engine with 6 speed s2000 tranny, my final drive ratio is Cosworth 3.92 with QUAIFE ATB. The engine is supercharged 350 on the wheel. Here is the key & question...the car weigh in just a bit over 1000 LBS. So, what does the 3.90 gear ratio will equate to the performance of the car? The car is so light that I'm not even thinking about torque. Do i need to go to 4.10? 4.44 ? 4.57?
I don't want to spend any money if 3.90 will work with my configuration stated above.
Thank you folks

you should be ok considering you're boosted the taller gear is not such a bad idea. don't spend the money. i mean you will know if you need shorter gearing after driving w/e it is that you're building
how big are your tires gonna be? and are you gonna run a big track or auto-x type track? I would say 3.9 will be fine for now until you tweak it later. Hell its only 1000 pounds, just turn it on its side to remove the diff later if need be
if OP was on something like 275x40x17 the other gears might work..

At a half ton with 350 at the wheels, you will find the 3.9 a good choice. You may even want to go taller. With that weight, ratio and revs, you will be able to stay in gear for an eternity right through track-out and down the straight. If it's not too much work for you, you may want to give something in a 3.6-3.7 range at least a try.
Enjoy, track out must be awesome on that puppy.

I was thinking similarly to nsxplain, 3.92 is your best choice, just leave it be and tune accordingly. If you can fit a bigger tire setup, that may be another choice instead of going with a lower gear too
bigger fender wells and tires please.
Lol but all kidding aside, thanks for sharing. When you test it on your track of choice, you'll be able to figure out if your gears are too short or too long. I would venture to say that you'll be fine staying in 3rd gear most of the time unless if you plan on taking constant sprints between 80-110mph
