89 STD(Standard) hatch. Temp gauge issue
Hey HT EF folks! Its been a while.
A new problem has risen to my concern. My 89 STD hatch temp gauge will not work what so ever. My car runs fine now(thanks to yal EF pros) but when i take a look at my cluster while warming up my car, the temp gauge needle is below the cold line, so i end up turning off and on the car to see the temp gauge will even give the needle a lil movement up. But no movement of the needle at all. So im thinkin like a noob to change the thermostat. Did that and still no movement or any sign of my temp gauge workin properly. So i dont think its my thermostat.
So my question is. - does anyone know what might be the problem?? If so what do i need to do??
I recently got the car to run(it was sitting for about 3 years) and the car is really healthy. But i jus dont like the fact that i cant read the temp gauge. And i dont wanna run into overheating issues due to this problem, and stop me from preventing any more problems.
Btw: the car is bone stock. No funny things done to it.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you guys can help me. Much appriciated.

Ahh 24TEN hows it going bro. Your always the dude to come to the rescue haha.
I never thought about check that. I always thought it was the thermostat. Where would the (temp) sensor be located?, what would i need to do to check/test it?, and what would i be looking for while check/testing it?(like unplug the sensor and see if the motor does a funny thing or unplug the sensor and look at my cluster)
Thanks for throwing me in the right direction bro
