Mix match make me power!!!
Alright I recently purchased a b16a I already have a b18c1 .....I wanna spend around $500 ....things I have on the gsr are the normal bolt ons, I,h,e. with the racing I do I run from 3500 to 5700 is my peak. I wanna be able to turn around 8500 without worrying at all. My gsr is about 30psi down on compression and smokes anything over 7k. Let me know what I should do....should I just build it stock or mix and match engine parts? Lmk plz
explain "build it stock" and "mix n match"
Your run of the mill I/H/E will bolt right up to your B16A, and with a stock ecu...redline is at 8200RPM and you can "turn" that all day.

Like Oem stock internals.....pistons cams ect...didn't know if I'd be better off with mixin cranks or whatever. I want as much power as possible on my tiny budget.
what do you have against racing... if he wants to go to the track and **** out his car and have fun, why would you have anything against that?
so you have a stock b16a long block in good running condition and a gsr with bad rings?
and all you wanna spend is 500 bucks?
sell the gsr "with bad rings" put in the b16 and use the money you got from selling the gsr and the 500 to buy cams and a tune. prolly your best option. or sell both motors and buy another used gsr motor.

I'd suggest taking the 500 bucks and getting a new set of rings for the GSR and have a machine shop check out the valveguides to get it back to stockish performance no smoking. Rings can go for like 120 and a new head gasket is like 65.

dont assume hes tracking the car... im assuming hes street racing. thats what im going off of. and i was just trolling :]
Another problem....we may not be able to run vtec .....now what do i do lmao
Why wouldnt you be able to run vtec? Racing class rules? You need to be more specific. If you cant use a vtec motor then dont use a vtec motor lol. Sell all your motors and go buy a b20.
currently working on my integra to get it ready for willow springs :[ taking a while.
I'm just curious what everyone would think is the best engine bang for buck is. Vtec and NON. Our tech down here in the south "like dem v8's an no dang 4 poppers" so i can slide though with a few things but nothing obvious like adjustable cam gears and big ol' header sticking out. Let's just start this over.......what engine/trans would you buy for 1000 bucks?
It really depends on the rules. I have heard of people dirt oval racing Hondas and it has to be stock other than some simple bolt ons. If that's the case, we need to know what car you have.
On the off chance you can swap anything within the brand, I would run a B20 with LS intake manifold and maybe reground cams. They will appear stock since they will be. No need to complicate a car like that with vtec. You are going to want torque anyway. Put some arp rod bolts in it and it will spin 7k all day long.

Then run an H22. Lol. There is a way to bolt an H22 to a B tranny. It's not the nicest looking thing, but would be a perfect budget solution to your problem
Is everyone else driving preludes? Those cars are tanks compared to civics. You should be fine with a B20. Maybe some reground cams *wink wink* lol
