Default Auto to Manual Transmission Conversion

Ok guys. I just got a "great" deal on a 04 Accord. Really was a pretty fair deal. However, just driving it home, we noticed a flair and shutter. The auto trans is starting to take a dive.

I'm going to do a auto to manual conversion, but don't want to go into this blind. I haven't found much info online. I want to know any and all info on doing this right. What mounts, axles, electrical, sensors, etc. I need the car to run properly and the speedo to work.

Please let me know any knowledge you have, or links, whatever. I have access to a shop, and the parts are relatively cheap compared to a trans rebuild, AND, the wife and I both prefer manual anyway. Thanks for your time, please help.

There are many types of swaps that people use to do and now don't do. Engine swaps of different types tend to be nightmares. The electronics tend to be the biggest problems. Even doing a transmission swap from manual to auto or auto to manual is another one of those swaps that unless you have an identical vehicle that you can swap every little bracket and bolt, will also quickly turn into a nightmare. I would strongly suggest that you consider rebuilding your current transmission or find a replacement (same type) transmission. I have seen virtually every manual to auto or auto to manual swap turn nightmare, even when done at a professional shop. Most shops will not even take on a job like this.

Crashmaster is right, one of my friend tried to swap his auto transmission of his honda civic 2006 to manual and the electronics were retarded 24/7...

It took him almost a year to fix everything and make it look like it's always been a manual civic. And STILL today, he's still having some problems with the electronics.

My advice: replace the auto tranny, trade the car for a manual

There are some accord forums from what i have read the sensors are different on the MT cars.... All of them. Will b pricey unless u get a motor with the sensors.
My car is already stick but i want to go 6-speed.
From 02 to 05 the Vss is different from 06-08 and then there was a change again from 09 to 11. (i have to confirm change on accord and tsx between 06 and 11)
You can get a full swap with lower milage from a tsx with ecu. Thats what i am looking for from a year thats closest.
Anyway i hope it works out for u.
