Default missfire after vtec in 96 itr engine

Howya lads,
any help wit this much appreciated
I have this weird problem with the car at the min
On idle and before Vtec the car runs fine, no codes nothing.
very responsive as if nothing is wrong. i can drive it normal from a to b with out hitting vtec,
but then! once you cross over in to vtec
it switches ( which u could tell from the exhaust/intake sound) but its hesitates to rev up and missfires
as in the revs is not going anywhere! (does but very slow!)
and then.. after the vtec is engaged and disengage
at normal revs its misfires or splutters until u turn off and turn back on. and if ya giv it more throttle after ya lay of theres no cross over but vtec is engaged, its like vtec dont disengage when the revs drop back down. but it still wont give a code or the engine light wont come on.

the problem wont away Until you switch off the car and start it up again.
this is a fully rebuilt b18c engine i bought and rebuilt and put it in the car, iv tried a heap of stuff but had no luk wit fixing it i tried the dizzy, plug leads, diff solanoid, diff ecu, lamda sensor, diff engine loom, timed it up and still no luck, thers onli about 5000 kms on the engine since the rebuild.

anyway if anyone has any ideas to what it mite be id be deligthed to hear cheers

have you checked to see if the vtec oil screen is clogged or dirty?

Sounds like your leaning out ,detonating and triggering the Ecu to somewhat immobilize the car as a safety feature. Have you checked the fuel system ?(possibly a bad injector etc.)
