Default changed throwout bearing now check engine light is on

car: 1997 civic ex
motor: D15Bvtec (previous owner took out D16Y8)
trans: 5 speed manual (stock from factory)

ok so me and a buddy just pulled my transmission to change my throwout bearing. after we get everything put back together and i go to take it around the block the check engine light came on. i notive that my speedometer wasnt working. after driving for a while speedo came back on. it jerked for a bit and now it works fine. however the check engine light is still on. i am not sure why and would love some input thank you.

oh and also my slave cylinder isnt coming out all the way like it did before. i bleed the lines but still isnt coming out. seems to be shifting fine and everything. so is it even a big deal?

You ask us to diagnose a CEL code, without posting the code? We aren't psychics. Pull the code, post it, and we can work from there.

Any number of things. Without the CEL code, we can't give you an exact answer, and everything would just be stabs in the dark. I'm not a fan of taking stabs in the dark.

more than likely if u had the tranny out id start with connectors make sure there tight and clicked when u put them back on and that there isnt any dirt in the plugs and they are actually called a thrust bearing a throwout bearing is inside the motor on the crankshaft to keep your crank shaft from moveing back and fourth when u push in on the clutch

The speedo issue makes me think about the VSS...its the big sensor on the top of the engine. If that baby comes loose or isn't connected properly, the car will always think its stationary (speedo/odometer wont work)... this can cause all kinds of weird issues like a lack of VTEC.

Pull the code and let us know. We can only speculate until then
