Icon2 Help with Vtec /Weak engagement

Well the best way I can explain this is I have a

Gsr block with 82mm CTR piston type R oil pump with a Circuit works old pump gear, and Fully build Gsr head with Skunk2 stage 2 cam. RC 310 Injectors Skunk2 intake manifold, Private lab TA header and 2.5 inch exhaust And thermal muffler
Hondada 300 for tunning.
Compression tested 100% cold and 275 all four cylinders
The motor runs good and pulls Hard Vtec is at 5700 but Vtec hits like a B16 More or less you just hear it not feel it
And the reason I'm asking this question is because I have a completely bone stock typeR swap in my other hatch whit a stock ITR p73 ecu and it hits Vtec extremely hard

Personally...if it does not "hit as hard" its probably because you have a half decent tune that is not shadowed by a really bad tune before vtec engagement.

If your vtec is not opening a wormhole in the fabric of time itself, you are doing it wrong.

you should never feel vtec. i just had my k20 tuned and the crossover is so smooth you'd never know where it was unless i told you. you can barely hear the exhaust note change either. it just pulls hard and smooth all the way to redline.

can you tell where it is?

Well I don't know a lot about tunning but its at 13.5 AFR right befor Vtec and about 13.2 in Vtec and timing it at 25 right befor vtec and then goes to 27 in Vtec and goes up to 30 and stay at 30 all the way to 9500

Well then my tuner must have done a good street tune because that how my car is pull Hard all the way through the power band and you just hear the exhaust change When going into Vtec

It should be smooth and not felt when everything is right. With that said, it is possible that its not making power in vtec. Hard to say without a dyno sheet or riding in the car.

How do you like that muffler? How quiet is it? 2.5ID right?

EDIT: about the crossover, as has been said, if all is perfect, it should be very smooth. It is when it is tuned poorly or specifically tuned to give you a jolt will you feel it. However, you have tuner stage two cams though right? The transition should be fairly hard I think whereas the Pros will be less pronounced.

The tuner should have changed the VTEC crossover to the RPM where the non-VTEC and VTEC power curves intersect. This makes a smooth transition. If VTEC hits hard it means the VTEC crossover is wrong and you are losing HP before VTEC engages.
