I know the numbers can likely vary. I am just looking for a range. Has anybody got a paint job recently? I have considered doing it on my own, but I want this to be perfect. Yes I have tried to search this topic. I went to the requently asked questions and they explained how to do it, but not how much it would cost to take it in to do it.

My CRX has severely faded hood (almost primered) the guy I bought it from lives in az like me and never garaged this baby! Body is pretty clean and flush. Let me know what you guys think? BTW its teal, and im going to repaint it that same color.

Pictures would help determine amount of body work to be done. Simply depends on where you take it. You answered your own question in your post. It varies greatly.

$300 bucks at Maaco for their painters to mask your car like a 3rd grader and one of their colors (recommend prep before delivery). Probably $600-$1000 for a proper to very nice job.

 

i was quoted between 2000-3500 to paint mine and it needed very little body work. I also had a body shop quote me 9000 using water based paint. Needless to say i vinyl wrapped my CRX and when I finish my other projects around the house ill try to paint it myself.

 

Thanks for the responses guys. Wow maaco sounds really reasonable, but I take it they wouldn't have the stock teal color for the CRX. I was thinking maybe doing an ok job at a place like that just to have it look better, and then in the future get a really good job done.

It is interesting you said something about Vinyl wrapping. I have been hearing about that a lot lately. how much did that cost?

i bought a 5 ft wide roll 25 yards lonf for $500. Wrapped it myself and I have more than enough to wrap the car 2 more times. so roughly $180 for the wrap, heat gun and some squeegees and misc supplies.

 

it kind of depends where you go and the prices always very. but usually its around 2500-5000 for a full spray with body work and jambs. could be more. could be less. it just depends on the shop,labor rates and what exactly you want done. the other option have have is respraying the parts that are faded and just buffing the other panels/parts that still have good paint. but if you do that without blending panels it may not match. actually it probably wont match. the other option you have is to find a tech or somebody that works out of there garage. but that will take longer and could go either way as far as quality. and i personally rarely charge less then 3000 for a full repair/spray. and that doesn't include rust repair. however the size of a crx would probably cost you 2-2500 from me personally because i wouldn't need as much materials.

 

Coming from the bay area I would think for paint to look as nice as OEM it would cost $3500 to $5000+.

The guy I bought this from I think paid between $1000 & $1500 for this. It included the door jams. (not under the hood)


I would call this a 10 footer paint job. I like looking at my car and walking up to, but as I can touch the car it is very evident that it is not an OEM paint job.

 

jlk16188 your car looks nice. I am sure you could make a lot on off money on the side Do you get the wrap that is UV protected?

 

Paint jobs can range from $300 to $10,000. It all depends on how the company preps, what materials they use, cut and buff time etc etc. For a decent paint job that looks good, probably 3k

For materials your self (Omni, Deltron Prices, better quality) Your looking at just around 600 to 700 just for materials. There are others like dupont and F1 and others that the quality will be much cheaper. I would charge you around 2k to 2500 is you wanted and a few weeks as I do them on the side. It would be a show car quality tho, and be like glass.
