Default b18b timing belt and cam issues

hey guys im i have a b18b and my timing belt is loose when i start the car its slapping and i thought i just have to tighten it up but as i looked at the cams at tdc the marks werent aligned equally how do i fix this

need answers asap thanks

is it possible it could have gotten stretched?

is this your first time,or have you done timing before?

im just confused on where the cams are unequal how would i set them at tdc where they are equal

There are more then a few DIY write ups on how to set valve timing/change timing belts here, all you need to do is search, also Google is your friend there are 100s of write ups and more then a few videos, like this one ...

there are two arrows on each of the cam gears.you line those up with each other after the crank is aligned tdc.probably didnt line the cam gears up..

possibly jumped some teeth. as fcm mentioned, there are a plethora of guides on the net and here. by the time you post something and get a response that may or may not be qualified, you could have found and watched or read one of the many instructional guides and figured out the system and how to fix it. as apposed to just following directions that may or may not be correct.

thanks for the comments and yes i did research but just wanted to know how i would align the cam gears do i take the cam gears out and and align them or is there something else i have to do im really confused and like i said this is my first time i dont wana mess up my whole engine

sounds like you're very confused.. i suggest take it to someone who knows what they're doing or if you have time and the car can sit in the garage... search videos, buy an owners repair manual, and do some research. Like you said .. main thing is that you don't want to ruin your engine.
