Obviously you *know* I was talking about the USDM cars specificaly, correct? Please try to order that JDM block-off plate via your local delaership and let me know how that goes.
As for this:
thats pretty funny cause the ITR was supposed to be Race inspired. And for Honda not to offer it as option for the ITR, but for other models, kind of contradicts the ITR. Just my .02 cent.
The USDM ITR was given certain "features" to make it fit in the north american Integra lineup. A radio was one of these options. It's a cultural difference. Note that Japan also got the Type Rx, which is very similar to the 00-01 USDM ITR
The older Civics did not come with a radio because Honda did this to make the car have a cheaper price, plus they had many accessory radios available to choose from at time of purchase (and everything was pre-wired in most cases). It was certainly not because a Civic Dx was "racy".
It is OEM, I got mine from CJM at Autofair Honda

It was an homologation special. They had to make it attractive enough to sell in enough numbers to be available for the World Championship of Makes as the FIA defined its homologation in MY 1998.
When it came to the USA in 1997, it was in small numbers because they didn't need that many.
When they realized that they had their hands on something that'd improve their image in North American by competing in racing rather successfully, they had to increase the numbers brought in, and add features like AC in order to make them more attractive to consumers.
Although it's hard for a 2012 user to comprehend, dealers had 1998 CW ITR languishing on the lots well into the Fall because people were just not interested in the car.
The legend took off in 1999 and MY 2000 found people waiting in line to buy them.
This writer drove from Richmond VA to Atlanta GA to get the first black MY 2000 ITR that (then) Baranco Acura got their hands on.

p/n for the USDM block off plate? you can get one from anywhere. ICB sells them. CF block off (jdm) they are discontinued and hard to find.
yes the usdm one, but I always get hit with HIGH import charges since it's a car part coming from the states. may just go to my Honda dealer and ask but they usually have no clue what I'm talking about without a part number.
edit:found it for the base model DX 77240-S0X-A00ZA incase anyone searches and finds this thread. thanks guys
Very similar? The US ITR sucks compared to the JDM DC2, especially the Rx. I'd trade my US ITR any day for an '01 JDM Rx. Everything from the motor, to the optional MOMO yellow stitched steering wheel and yellow Recaro SRD's, to the '16 wheels, rear upper sway bar, and the gorgeous front end with fogs and HIDs. It's so much more sophisticated, the US R was stripped of it's original spirit to meet the shitty US requirements. At the end of the day though, we still have the R chassis, which is ultimately more important.

I am not talking about the major JDM vs USDM ITR differences, such as the front end, engine, steering wheel, etc. Subtracting those, the Type Rx was closer to the USDM car than the "normal" JDM ITR was. I was assuming that would be understood.
However, I am still amazed that the ITR was brought over as raw as it was. Kudos to Honda for not just making it a GSR with a better engine and suspension.
We basically ended up with a toned down JDM Rx and not a toned up USDM GS-R. Thank God.
