Default Won't start... nothing working

2001 Accord ULEV model, 160k miles

So tried to help my brother out and thought it was an easy fix lol but just can't figure out why it wont start. I mean nothing... the only thing that lights up are the brake lights when pressed. instrument panel, dome light, headlights, locks, etc. non existent at this point. When the key is turned.. nothing no clicks or cranks, just dead air.

Up to this point the car was running fine. So today he comes over and chills in his car listening to his ipod plugged into the cig/lighter and radio with the car off for a little while. Gets out and a few hours later wont start back up. It clicks at this time, but the clicking is coming from the passenger side fuse box. We try to jump start it and the horn just blows like crazy. So we go pick up a new battery (he told me that a few months back a mechanic told him that he needed a new battery soon) I remove the horn relay and connect the new battery. I put the horn relay back in the fuse box under the hood and the car does nothing. As I mentioned brake lights work when pressed but that is it.

So I go through the fuses and find that the radio/cig lighter fuse is blown, I think at this point I figured it out, replaced it. Still nothing happening same deal when starting it.

I mean is it something with the anti theft since it is part of the radio, and the horn blowing when trying to jump it earlier? Or was the battery so dead that it couldn't charge the system components like the radio and blew a fuse and I'm missing another, or the main relay?

The thing is if it was the main relay there would of been some premature signs not just bam car completely dead right? I don't think it is the ignition coil because same thing there would of been some obvious signs before this point?

Should I try hitting the starter while starting it?

Have you checked driver's/passenger side fuse panels? Do some voltage checks.

yeah, might have missed a couple fuses but the passenger side panel is where I found the radio/cig lighter fuse blown, it was a 20.

Can a fuse be bad even if it is not blown?

It is possible to have a open fuse and not look "blown"

A break in the fuse wire. Test with an ohm meter. If it's good there should be no resistance.

It can be the main relay. Have you taken it out and checked the solder on all the joints? It's sort of a pain to get to it (personally, i just did it and it's in a really hard place under the steering column and I had to position my body very awkwardly) (99 Accord v6) Give that a shot?

I may have an ohm meter (came with my snap-on cabinet kit never used it tho) but that is at another place. Have to pick up later, thanks for the input.

I have a 2001 Honda Accord, took the battery off for 2 hours and put it back and now a small red light is flashing to the left of the steering wheel.
  • The car won't start
  • The battery seem to be fully charged, it won't crank
  • front lights and back light star flashing
It looks like it is an alarm, but I've tried to turn it off with the key locking and un locking, but nothing seems to work...

Please can some one help....
