Comptech vs. RSR exhaust?
ok which one is louder? i would prefer the one closer to stock sound. which one will give better performance gains? anyone with an opinion please contribute, also does anyone know the interior diameter of each system?
i actually have a comptech on my GSR. its really quiet, and also looks like stock - nothing big and ricey. it gives a deep rumble for sound and it is stainless steel, 2.25" diameter i believe. an all-around great exhaust. sounds better than most exhausts out there..... almost as good as the mugen twin loop.
mine is actually for sale... since i need the $. i am selling it for $400 shipped if you or anyone else is interested. that's an excellent price since they go for $600+ brand new.
good luck deciding...

rsr is quite form what I hear, but yeah Comptech is the **** and I don't know why Ajchen is selling his. My bro has a mugen twin loop on his prelude and I think the Comptech sounds better and performs just as good.

rs-r looks better, made out of stainless steel, and sounds just right. i haven't heard a comptech, but ive seen them before. i prefer rs-r. theyre hard to come by tho

my freind acutally got a ticket for his rsr exhaust (not invidia) the cop said its too loud, we were like ummmm ok. i myself have never gotten a ticket for my comptech exhaust.
the rsr are available only in ceramic coated with a stainless tip, the comptechs are stainless all the way through form the cat back. i have heard of welds breaking on the rsr's as well as plates rusting off inside the muffler. the rsr is not a straight through design in the muffler, where inthe comptech the deign fis a straght through, which would provide better gains. anyone else have any feedback on these two manufacturers?
Actually the RS*R (old style) are nolonger available unless you can get a used one, one from a shop that has old stock or from whoever bought the remaining RS*R inventory from RacingBeat (do a search for Alan @ Alternative). It did come in two versions a stainless muffler (looked like Greddy SP, Apexi WS) and a ceramic coated 'mild steel' version. The RS*R was in fact a chambered muffler so it will not flow as well as any straight thru design muffler. RS*R did have a very nice, quiet sound to it. The Apexi World Sport is said to be very similar to the old RS*R if you want something quiet, it can be found for ~$360 if you shop around.
Another alternative you may want to look at is the SMSP systems, Dave@SMSP is a regular on this forum, do a search. He builds nice systems with mandrel bent tubing and Magnaflow mufflers. Check it out

pic of my RS*R tip... in dyno tests back in '95, the RS*R provided the highest gains for an exhaust at that time.

well guys here's my dilemma i can get the comtech used for 3 bills plus shipping or i can get the rsr new for 340 after shipping and it comes in the mild steel version with the stainless steel tip in the magna version. what would you guys do?
Comptech owners does your mufflers still say ultraflow on them? It used to have ultraflow written on them. Also if you can get the RSR for that price jump on it you won't regret it.
yeah i have the magna tip rsr. it is very quiet - just how i wanted it
Magnum tip, Ceramic.

But I will go ahead and ***** a pic of my whole car, which has nothing to do with this thread (it has the Comptech setup on it...)

so as much as i wouild like a fully setup car with comptech components, they are just toooo exspensive. for all of you who have given me your opinions i greatly appreciate. NOW ON TO THE RSR EXHAUST!!!!
HERE'S A LIL SECRET GUYS:
there are quite a few RSR exhausts available. they have them for the civic the ls gs rs and of course the gsr. but i didn't want to let the cat out of the bag until i made my decision. i will be purchasing a brand new RSR exhaust from http://www.turboimports.com as soon as i am done writing this post. These guys were the people who bought all of RSR back stock available. They are selling full stainless civic versions for $335 + shipping i think. the gsr and rs-gs versions are available for the 340 shipped only in the ceramic coated mild steel version with the stainless tip(ls-gs can get only the 70mm tip). they have the gsr exhaust only available in the magnum tip , which is a shame because i like the 70mm tip(looks very close to stock) and since my car is being setup as a sleeper the closer to the stock look i can get the better off i am. the integra versions are on sale and if you send these guys an email and ask what the discount rate for shipping is they will tell you fifteen dollars insured to your door. now this is the last run of the non-invidia RSR exhaust available to the continental U.S. if you really wan to get one of the older versions before they release the new skunk look a like version now is the time and probably the last time you guys will ever be able to buy one of these systems. EVER!!! so guys buy em up and help support these people's business as well as support the RSR following in th U.S.!!!!
i am buying mine right now!!!
oh if the website is wronng im me i think that it is but make sure youcall before you order. they do not give you ashipping qute unless you call or email em.
