Default I'm going to try this out

What you guys think about this....

i was just thinking of keeping my stock pr3 pistons, but get new piston rings and get some after market piston rods..And all the seals and bearings...thats for the block

Sounds good, tell me what you think?

and now for the head.....

get a full port and polish along with a new vavle train and some ctr cams and get all the bolt ons....intake,header,clutch,fly wheel...etc,etc

All motor

what you guys think?

the reason you would replace the pistons is to run higher compression. rings are about $100, and new wrist pins are up there too, why not just get an SRP/ JE combo (one of the ones advertised for like $700) that include rings, wrist pins, rod hardware, etc? also, B16 rods are strong enough to handle an all motor setup, if money is a big issue, just have the B16 rods shot peened and balanced, and get some new pistons. i would also say to bore that motor out .40 over, you would notice that.

Me too. I'd spend the extra cash.

uhhhh shot peaning can lead to premature rod breakage.....it tends to make them have a shorter life from what i have read about the shot peaning it makes them brittle over time

i have heard exactly the opposite, shot peening stress relieves the casting of the rods. my friend built an ls vtec with ls rods, shot peened and balanced, and the machine shop asked how high he planned on revving the motor. when he told them 9000, they said it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't balanced the whole rotational assembly and stress relieved the rods.
