Default usdm itr trans not holding 2nd gear

got a quick question. bought a itr trans from a memeber on ht. works great came brand new in box genuine box. trans has less than 1000 mile on it. pops out of 2nd gear at high rpms like 7400 7500. ive changed the fluid once since first filling it. im assuming the detents are not holding. anybody have any idea please let me know thanks

detents arent what hold it in gear the syncro hub slider and the teeth it meshes with on the speed gear hold it. if you ever look at the two parts youll notice the teeth that look like little coffins. these teeth are designed so that the rotating motion actually pulls the gears together after you complete the shift. when they get worn off from grinding gears or not using the clutch at all they cant hold the slider and gear together. just giving a desktop diag w/o seeing the trans myself id say youd need 2nd gear and the syncro its on at the least.

Someone fibbed about only being 1,000 miles on the trans. Pop outs are indicative of a well worn trans. Without inspecting it personally I would have to agree with Nick about needing 2nd gear kit. It could be the synchro spring. To many it might be's.
