B18b Coolant Problems
Hello HT,
I've been trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with my cooling system. I'm always refilling my coolant reservoir because it always runs out. Although it takes a few days of driving for it to fully drain, I know something is wrong because coolant just doesn't disappear. I see no signs of leaks anywhere on the block nor do I see coolant mixed in the oil. Also, my car doesn't overheat at all which is odd since it seems like I drive the car with no coolant. What other things can I do to solve my problem? Thanks in advance.

anytime i see a low coolant level, first thing i do is throw the pressure tester on it. you may not see signs of a leak. it may be subtle or in a spot that isn't visible from up top. or, maybe it's the heater core. no coolant smell in the cabin? pump the tester up to 15psi and watch the gauge for a couple minutes. if the system holds pressure, it's leaking internally. the gauge doesn't lie
Ditto the above, upper or lower tank "crimps" get loose anf tanks leak, very hard to see if it is the lower one as the coolant may only leak when temp. is up and your driving so it leaks onto the road.
Pressure tester as mentioned, although you already know you have the leak, the pressure tester will confirm it, it may also put enough pressure into the system so you can find the leak, UV dye is the best way to find small leaks. 94
