can anyone tell me from the pictures what model engine / tranny this is and how much it might be worth?


so i had a roomate that moved out suddenly, he spent all his money putting a new engine into his EK and then couldn't pay rent, he left the old engine and transmission behind and never paid the last months rent which he was over a month behind on, it's been over 2 months now and he isn't responding to me emails or text messages ... as far as i'm concerned, he abandoned this stuff and it's mine to sell

this engine and transmission run perfectly, it was his daily driver
i dont know anything about this stuff and i have no use for it

i want it out of my driveway before snow falls, i live in NH

i can't even post it on craigslist because i dont know what it is therefore i dont know what to list it as

That is an obd2 D16yY7. You can get maybe a hundred Bucks for the block and about $75 for the trans.

 

is there a way to know what honda models this engine will fit into?

what would you suggest for the advertisement heading?

i was thinking something like

engine and transmission for Honda [whatever model, whatever year]

i mean, what would you want to know if deciding whether or not to buy it?
i think #1 - is it the right engine for my car?
would most people know just by the model of the engine itself?

 

Almost every Honda person with the ability to change an engine will know what it is by the engine code. It will bolt into 92-00 civics with no problem. 88-91 civic/crx will be a little more work but very doable without too much effort. The tranny is the same deal for bolting in, but would be a little tougher to make the clutch work in the 88-91 cars.
