hey guys whats going on.To make story short my eg was stolen 1 week ago and i really need a car to get to work, so im looking at this 1998 accord its the older style.i talk to the guy and hes asking 1500 said it was a 4cyl, auto, 220k, black color, looks pretty good on pics im going to test drive tomorrow need some info on what to look for it has a ton of miles any advice will be great.. thanx

$1500 for a 98 4cyl, sounds like a pretty good deal. As long as the engine and transmission work good. AC work?(Im from the south and this is a MUST have). next thing I would want to know, when was the timing belt last changed? When you go look at it, start it up, let it idle for 15 minutes or so, watch the temp gauge really closely. Listen to the idle really good, then sit in it, shift it from park to drive, then back to reverse, do this several times. Make sure it shifts the same, no thunking or delays etc. Good luck.

 

Start it cold.

 

Check oil and trans dipsticks. Look for anything other than clean fluids. Smell transmission fluid, if it smells burnt, pass.
