Carbon kevlar hood repair?
Whats up guys I just bought a carbon Kevlar hood and the guy i bought it from cut out a slit like a inch wide and 3 inches long of it for his turbo (it was a topmount)... i was wondering is there anyway to patch it? Its not cut all the way its just like 2 slits and one of the ends cut... i seen some people who have like a little piece of sheet metal covering holes... Any ideas? heres a pic of it
Fiberglass matting on the bottom maybe? Do you want it filled in and looking new or just held down tight? If you just want it held down and sealed I think laying out fiberglass matting with resin on the inside could do the job.
If you want to smooth the hood I believe just fiberglass resin could be applied and smoothed. Not 100% sure. I've never tried it but resin dries semi clear and could fill in the holes easily.
This is a good option. You will be able to see the flap somewhat, but it will be smooth again. If you do it well enough you'll basically have that imperfection in-cased in the resin, but to the touch might not be felt.
Fiberglass the bottom while you have the top tapped down to level. remove tape and fill in the slits with resin and sand /buff when dry you will only see the lines
