Oil in Spark Plug Wells, symptoms?
I have a 96 Accord 2.2L 167K miles,
Just wanted to check with those of you who have replaced the plug oil ring seals, would oil in the spark plug wells lead to a occasional engine miss at idle? I have noticed I have oil in 2 of my spak plug wells (Cylinder 1 & 2). I have the o rings, just haven't gotten around to replacing them yet, and was wondering if this might be a contributing factor in the engine miss I'm getting at idle?

Unless you have bad spark plug wire boots down in the plug wells, too, that oil shouldn't cause a miss. It's been years since I looked at that, but I don't think that oil can even get up to where the wire connects to the plug contacts, but I might be wrong.
If everything else is in tune and good repair, you might suspect air bubbles in your cooling system for little idle blips. Or, it's just your Honda being itself and little electrical processes going on and making the IACV adjust. That's not a miss, but normal stuff. If its a true miss, it wont be limited to idle; and you will also notice it while driving.

Thanks guys, planning on changing these soon, just wondering if the oil in the spark plug wells would have any ill affects, I notice a slight miss at idle at times, more noticeable in the summer with the ac on, but still there without the ac. Sounds like I might need to look elsewhere for the cause.

i remember when i had this problem, misfire and one day it just didnt want to start so i took a piece of rag with a flat head screw driver to dry that oil out and car start fine, that was just at work, changed the rings as soon as i got home.
