you are probably not going to be able to find a b17 in great shape for that money they are not common engines, you should be able to get a b18c done for around $3200, but I know you can get a b16a swap for that money. I paid $3000 + tax installed, you can use the search function to find out all the parts you will need, some people have made complete lists on here. Make sure you get a compression and leak down test done on the motor, before purchasing it. A good shop will usually do it before selling them, but you may have to take it somewhere to get it done.
BTW what model do you have HF DX or SI?

u know everyone is gonna say something different but u know the b16a is the best bang for the price ull be able to do some other mods to it besides just getting a motor....it alll depends on the kind of use u want outa it drag autox etc....what r u trying to do
B16 with a skunk2 manifold (you need one no matter what application) and a DC jdm type r 4-1 knockoff with the 2.5" collector. find someone getting rid of some del sol cams or gsr cams, because you definitely want to ditch the 1gen b16 cams, and you are on your way.
B16 motor, trans, ecu--$1100
exedy clutch and comptech flyhweel--$625
motor mounts and shift linkage--$500
halfshafts and intermediate shaft--$200
skunk2 manifold--$275
dc header--$300
out of money, having fun.

There was never a b16c produced. There is a b16b, B18c, B18c1, B18c5, B18a, B20b/z...etc...and those are just some of the b series motors...not to mention there are a lot of others in the d and h/f series classifications.
like i said everyone has an opinion a b16 was meant to be in our cars a b20 is an ok motor but stock for stock theres a huge difference in my opinion, and with prices dropping u r right u can find a b18 at a US junkyard and not paying shipping ect...and come out on top ill deffenitaly admit to that. It all depends on application u dont buy a b18 and expect to go NA and have lot of options unless u wanna do a bit of work to it and u dont buy a b18c orsomething of the sort and want to turbo it the b18c and b16a IMO are better suited for NA aplications but thats me....and do a search if want to learn u dont just waltz in and expect **** here read past posts first if u cant find it there is something wrong....

If you want to spend 3250 max then you should either go b16, or b18b. I have a b18c, and I've gone well above that number. Not to mention all the extras I seem to have to buy every couple of weeks.
Also keep in mind your putting this stuff into an old car, so there is going to be little things that need to be replaced, tie rods, wheels bearings ect.. Not saying you'll need to replace them but there is the possibility. Plus think about where you want to be with this down the road ie. boost or n/a, and what your goals are for this car.
In short do a lot of research and take your time. It'll be worth it in the end.

IMO, the B18A, or B18B are excellent motors for boosting. Even w/out the boost, they'll pull a CRX like nothing else.
ZC motors aren't too bad for boosting - Bryson is the man to talk to about that.
But if you only have, what $3500 to spend? Is that just for the motor swap, then do the boost later on with a few new paychecks?
If you've got that much cash on hand, I'd definitely go for a B18A/B - although you'll be spending at least 2 grand on a turbo setup....

turbo is way down the line, i have 0 saved for that. 3500 is all for the swap.
the b18 a and b are only 130 and 140 hp... why not get a b16 a or b instead, 170 and 185 hp..
