Civic ep2 D16V1
Hello,
I'm from europe and we have a civic ep2 here with a D16V1 engine. I post here because of the build period and the D-serie familie.
My car starts fine and idles ok. Driving or not, every so many seconds or minutes the engine cuts off for 0.5 second. It jerks HARD and than runs fine again. I hear the relay clicking from passengerside. One time my OBD could register an error code. The engine checklight turns of again after a few seconds. The error was: P0452: Evaporative Emission System Pressure Sensor/Switch Low (Powertrain, Generic). However there was a hiss when unscrewing the gas cap. Could it be a false report? Fuelpump issues?
The most recent thing done on the car was the timing belt. Could this be related? Since the timingbelt change I drove fine for 1000 miles.
Does this car have the notorious main relay?
Thank you!
Benjamin

This car has got 2 sepperate relays for the ECU and the fuelpump. Those replace the troubleling main relay from previous models.
I ordered those two and will report if it fixed my prblem. My local honda dealer could not test my ECU (stand alone) and only offered OBD2 diagnose (something I have and did myself). There still is a good chance that the ECU is defective. However, there were NO visible defects on the circuit board (burned / cracked / melted parts).
Let's hope for the best.

I replaced the two relays, no cure. So far the P0452 hasn't been reported again, false error code probably.
I'm going to check the bottom of the ECU circuitboard and check for leaking capacitators.
