Default rebuilding a junkyard engine

well ran the engine fine for about 2/3 months till it blew a headgasket. well today i started pulling the top end (96 f22b) apart to find sand in some low spots in the head along with some in the oil pan. tomarrow im going to be pulling rod and main caps off to see if sand ground them up but i think they will be fine all the metal to metal surfaces of the camshaft didnt look all ground up so i think i may have caught it in time! good thing i am doing a compleat rebuild. wish me luck, mike

well i see no one could help out with picture upload information, but as for the beater i rebuilt the head ( new valves springs, retainers, keepers, and seals). did the old straight edge and feeler gauge trick across the head and it wasnt warped any so i kept it. next time i get to the car i will be digging into the bottom end to replace the rear main, all rod and main barrings, front main and fire it up for the first time!

hello all, today i started on the bottom end looks like i made the right choice! cyl3 rod barring was worn bad like to the point brass was showing but not one bit of knocking nor was the rod dis colored ( made me scratch my head a good bit). tomarrow i will be putting the bottom end back together and i will say IT IS A BITCH DOING A REBUILD WITH THE BLOCK STILL IN THE CAR!

i know i didnt have a cherry picker so im stuck like chuck but im not quite worried about them i did change them before the junkyard engine was dropped in ( main seals). while im in the engine how hard is it to get rid of the balance shaft? should i buy the kit or is there a way to do it without buying the $200 kit?

I read on All Data that you'll need to pull the oil pump housing off to be able to remove the front and rear balancers.
