Default AXLE question! EG vs EK/ GSR/SIR. quickhelp

ok I have a 96 gsr full swap in a 98 ek. I used an axle in my garage originally for a B16a EG6.

the axle popped out after I drove down the block..... im thinking the gsr axle might be longer? but ebay auctions shows it works for both. did I just not pop it in properly? I used a hammer and shoved it in like I have several times.

odd.

its the passenger side. I swapped an oem gsr axle for an aftermarket axle I had for a b16a eg

thx

All these axles are not the same length despite what you might read or what the parts counter guy might tell you.

Interchangeable? Sure.

Proper length? Not necessarily.

any 94-01 Integra axle will work, or 99-00 SI axle. any civic that had a B-series it it, or integra

Albeit I'm dealing with a different drivetrain than you, but I keep having different people tell me that they only make a 23" axle for my car when I just pulled an axle that is 24.5" fully compressed out of the car.

**** just what I didnt want to hear. my bet there is a 23" axle in there and the one i removed was a 24.5"

I have only EG6 axles for a 5th gen 92-95. and used it in my EK.

it drove out fine and up to 120kmh. I get to the stop sign and put it in gear, nothing there. so it didnt pop out from turning or anything :s

I believe EG's use DA axles or some trick? ugh

Are you sure the snap clip is on the end of it or is the snap clip damaged? Any of those axles will interchange, people have and are still doing it daily with no issues.

Using too short an axle, the 23" vs the 24.5" in my 92 Si for example, does not work.

If you are just driving like a granny, sure it works. But the second you really load up the suspension in a corner, the axle binds and refuses to articulate, and you potentially lose the steering. Not safe.

im going to try and measure up and see whats up. I have many axles in the garage off different cars. id like the longest ones lol my cars get raped. I dont like the motionless feeling in gear! now if it was my other car with Lsd I could have limped it home?

I pushed it back in but theres like no freeplay in the shaft its tight. but same as the other side, and I tq down to spec at around 135ftlb I found.

I also found one long shaft but its not the one that came out of the car. its off a DA teg I think. the rest are all the same and short.

thx!
