Hi,

I purchased a refurbished Honda EOM alternator online from a honda dealership. My mechanic installed it and the previous problems (horrible burning smell and car not starting) went away. But the new (refurbished) alternator makes a humming sound, sort of electrical, that gets louder when I increase the electrical load, like turning the lights on in the morning. I can hear it as the car is idling.

I have spoken with the dealer and they said they would send me out another alternator. Does an experienced honda-tech think there is something wrong with this alternator or is that a normal sound?

alternator should not make a humming sound. have they tested it
