Default Advice on choosing a basemap

I'm new to tuning, I've read a couple books, "Maximum boost" and "engine management advanced tuning" I've have my 1991 civic for about 3 years now, I have a rebuilt d15b2 engine (stock components but bored .5mm over) and just recently did a z6 head swap with an obd1 conversion, socketted p28 ecu with hulog and an ostrich 2.0. It currently has a stock p28 basemap on it.

I'm trying to find a basemap close to tune with that is of a p30 base so I can use datalogging with freelog and get the features of two step launch control, etc.

I've tried the d15b jdm vtec p30 base however it runs very lean and the timing is very different the z6 and I was happy with the way the z6 map ran.

So I found an automatic p30 base for a d16z6, runs decent but when I add extra features the main relay goes nuts and the car dies. I'd like to have launch control.

I plan on trying to tune this slowly and safely myself with datalogging, any tips to get me off to a proper start?

Best tip I can give would be save up and go with the Neptune Demon setup. Or at least get a Pro license and datalog from within the software.

Thanks for your input,

I got the hulog and ostrich as a pair for 100 bucks shipped, how is the demon better?

I heard Neptune is a better software, is that true?

The software is top notch. However, it's the customer service and technical support that comes along with it that is second to none!

They used to have an Ostrich trade in/upgrade deal...not sure if they still do that or not. Contact HRTuning here on H-T or visit their web site for info; http://www.hrtuning.com/pages/category/contact.
