Can't get RSX transmission off engine
I am dropping my transmission to repair an oil leak and I am following the Helm's manual step-by-step. I have the trans separated about 1" at the top and about 3/4" at the bottom and it is hitting the driver side frame of the car and wont budge anymore. I have a cherry picker on the trans and have tried every combination of height and angle.....IT WONT COME OFF! I have the mount loose on the frame where it is hitting but not removed, and it should not have to be removed, the actual trans case is hitting the frame itself.
Any trick or tips?

You don't need no cherry picker(aside for supported the engine) for a manual trans. get under there and yank it out. gotta be a man.
Try dropping the engine some more. it all needs to go down before it will go to the side. Try getting that mount out of the way.

Yeah I think dropping the engine is the key. I was worried about supporting it so much - like in the manual so I really didn't let it drop too much.
The cherry picker is just holding the tranny up so I dont have to use a jack underneath it, and I dont have any tension on it, just a safety for when the tranny does let go....
I'll lower the engine and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the help!

Dropped the engine about 3" and she came right off. I was following the Helm's manual and it tells you to suspend the engine with a support across the struts. This was holding the engine too high.
Thanks for the help....Now on to the major hole I found in the tranny case....(other thread in this forum)

hmmm , would it be possible to remove the complete engine and box in 1 go from the top ?
its just i cant really get on the ground to much injuries for quite a few years and wouldn't mind doing it all from the top have a engine crane, eg to do a clutch and rear main seal etc
