Default Pop! Pop! Pop! Dead...

This morning my Accord 04 stereo stops playing and starts making loud popping sounds. I could see the backlighting go on and off. This lasted for about 10 minutes even with the car off. Finally it stopped. Checked the fuse and didn't see anything wrong. Now it's dead. Any ideas what happened and possible solution?

Thanks!

Loud "popping" could be a speaker or speaker lead shorting out.

When you say "dead" do you mean just no sound, or is the unit not even turning on.

FYI there are three fuses, you need to check, one is on the back of the HU itself, the other is the stock radio acc. fuse, tha last one is the stock radio memory fuse, sorry not sure where they ar on an 04 Honda Accord, but the acc. fuse is normaly in the under dash fuse box and the memory fuse is normaly in the engine bay fuse box and almost always a 7.5A marked as back up. 94

Unit won't turn on.

Interesting fuse-news. I looked into the fuse box under the hood and
didn't see anything referring to the radio so I then looked at the box
inside and checked the one fuse there. I'll see if I can find where the
others are and investigate. Thanks!

Tired of singing to myself in the car.

The 12V+ constant power fuse, [memory fuse] in the engine bay fuse box is not marked radio, it is marked as "back" up or ECU, possibly ECU/clock.

With that said, there are a few Honda/Acura that have the radio memory fuse in the under dash fuse box, but most are in the engine bay and almost always 7.5A but may be a 10A.

Did you pull the HU and check the fuse on the back? 94

Okay. Found the fuse you were talking about. Pulled it and everything looked fine. It was labeled Backup. Pulled a few more around it out of curiosity. All good. Then for giggles I turned the car on and checked the radio. It Works!!! No more singing to myself!

Thanks for the help!
