Bought a 91 for cheap, now to troubleshoot. :(
Ok so I picked up a 91 auto and I have to say I really like the car. But I does of course have it's problems. And I need help troubleshooting. I do not have a check engine light on but do have the flashing sports light. The 2 pin connector is under the right side of the dash right? All I find is a 2 pin connector to the left side of the cover for the blower motor, the connector is blue. Only one open in sight. So I assumed this would be the one to jump to find the much needed codes, right? If so when jumped, all I get is when the key is turned the s light doesn't come on at all, even just initially to show it works properly. But the check engine light stays on instead. Any ideas?
Next, lol, when accelerating more than just a tiny bit, or even with the car in drive or reverse without pedal press, the car seems to be missing badly/stuttering. I know it has gas in it and all that.
Really only thing I do know that IS wrong for sure is the speedometer, which I'm sure is the vss, which will set off a code and give me the dreaded s flash lol.
Any help is appreciated, and I can send pics, etc. And as long as I have some sort of direction in which to do a repair, I'm fairly crafty and most likely can do it.
Thanks, Ray.

I don't think I'm understanding the s light flashing and finding the codes. Can anyone elaborate? Every link I find is vague and the service manuals I am finding are chopped up.
Small blue plug on the right side tucked up under the dash. It's got a red or orange wire and green / white or green/black striped wire. Jump that plug, then turn the key on to where the dash lights are on. If there are any codes stored in the computer, the amber check engine light will flash. Count the flashes. Four quick flashes, followed by one long flash is code 41, or it might be four long flashed followed by one quick one. Either way, you will see a pattern because there is a long pause before it repeats. Keep in mind, that if that computer has never been cleared but pulling the neg battery cable or 15 amp backup fuse under the hood for a minute or two, then you could be looking at some old codes that have nothing to do with current problem. Better to clear the computer, drive until the CEL comes on and then check the codes.
Note: If your car has original factory radio with "Anti Theft" on the front of it, pulling the battery cable or bkp fuse will render the radio useless if you don't have the security code for it.
