Whining noise while driving
Hey H-T, was wondering if you guys could help me identify an issue I've been having with my '96 Integra. Sometimes I hear this really loud whining noise when I'm driving. I usually hear it when I'm cruising at low speeds((10-15mph), but I have heard it once or twice when driving at 40mph. I'm not sure where the sound is coming from, but the car drives fine. Anyone know what may be causing the noise? (Yes, I've searched, but still haven't found any idea).
Does it only happen when driving not why sitting? Could be a belt, pulley, cv joint, a/c compressor bout to take a ****, wheel bearing, or transmission bearing. More info or a good video with sound would help. It sounds like it could be a rear wheel bearing if you don't feel it in the steering wheel.
It only makes that noise while I'm driving not during idle. It only happens sometimes, but I'll try to record the footage and post it on here asap. I've looked some threads related to this issue and was wondering if a bad alternator would cause the noise?
Alternator can make a whine if pulley bearing is bad or gettin worse. Does it depend on if more electrical components are being used to none. If it whines more louder when a/c or other electrical used I would lean towards alternator bearing.
