My wife found an 87' 5-speed with 130k miles. AC is said to work, Tire/Brakes are said to be in good shape. Paint looks good from the pictures. Guy said on the phone that it runs a bit rough when cold (carb needs adjusting?), but is good once warm. Car is listed on CL for $1200 and will be talked down to atleast $1000.

Anything in particular to look for?

 

buy it...as long as the transmission is sound and it has not been repainted due to an accident. hard to pass up a $1000 running car in that good of shape.

 

Get up under the hood and look all around for previous "mods" done to the car. If it looks like it's been modified, I'd stay away from it. Personally, I wouldn't want to buy a car that I wasn't sure what was going on with it. That is if you're looking to just buy into a car and immediately start driving it. If it hasn't been molested, then ****** it up.
