Default My EH2 92 VX build thread

This car needed to be saved. This is my 4th Civic hatch. I hope to restore this one as much as possible. I want a fun, n/a mountain cruising car, with Honda reliability. Probably throw in a little "flair" along the way.

Bought the car with front end damage. Radiator support was bent, nothing lined up.

The car was rough, but I could see the silver lining. Motor was leaking oil all over, so a GSR swap was ordered. Still awaiting arrival of that.

In the meantime, ordered new headlights and corners as the tabs were broken from the originals.

New mirrors should arrive tomorrow to replace these ones:

Replaced the windshield which was cracked and missing side moldings, also gave away the hood as I was replacing it anyway:

Car got dropped off last week at the body shop. Getting new radiator support, hood, bumper, fender(DS) and repairing(PS) and new door skins.

Replaced the non-existent window cranks, and am working on small interior pieces, etc.

Still not sure. Just primer for now, until I can afford to get the rear quarter rust repaired.

Yea I know lol! I am in the process of rebuilding my 1993 Si and I am torn about which way I would like to go. I have seen a lot of aftermarket fenders, hoods and they didnt line up very well. They are also made of really thin metal compared to oem. I think I am going to get as many used oem parts as possible.

Glad to see you giving the VX another chance at life. I have a 94 VX that I did a GSR swap earlier this year and it is a blast to drive!!! I saw the 10k spent already and I was amazed but I have got lucky and spent 1k on the car(running stock VX with rear qtr damage) and 1500 on the 98 Gsr swap which had 80k original miles w/ new OEM belt and water pump but body work is one thing I have even touched yet. Look forward to your progress. Check out my build if you get a chance.

This color definitely isn't staying, that's the only thing I'm sure of.

Congrats! CLOSE UP PICS OF THE BODY WORK! That front end looks like it lined up really well.

It's not show quality lined up, but it's much improved. Not bad at all for non-OEM panels.

Nice!!! Def will be peppy. GSR swap made my hatch more fun to drive than my g35. Any plans on boosting?

No boost. I'm not a straight line fan.

Curious... how much did you pay the shop to do the aligning on your front end?

It was a lot more than "aligning", it was replacing all those panels. $3k.

Apex-i WS Noir catback is here, and going in tomorrow.
Ordered PIC Select coilovers with 10k and 8k spring rates.
Monday, the car goes in for rear quarter panel replacement. The whole car will be primer grey with a clear coat, until I can come up with the funds for a color change paint job.

$10k spent already?

I love to see a car saved as much as anybody, but GD!

And you said it has rear quarter rust too?

I'd probably have bought an already built car for tht kinda coin.

I was looking and considered, but didn't want to buy an unknown project, and drive halfway across the country as well.

I'm telling myself I saved another hatchback, and it's helping me feel a little better about it...lol.
