Hi i am new at this so bare with me. I have a 95 accord that just recently started having problems. Every time i turn on the a/c or the heater it has a really bad smell(like dead animal) this had happened last year but the smell had gone away. Just recently the smell came back again. Does anybody have an idea on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

 

Two things,

Buy a can of Lysol spray, open up your hood and spray it into the fresh air vents. You will have to put your car on high fan with the heat on and FRESH AIR VENTS OPEN. SPRAY like a half of can in there a little out a time. Next turn the a/c on with cold air and fresh vents, spray again into the fresh air vent under the hood. (fresh air vent should be near driver window.

Lastly, your problem might be in the condensor box (whatever its called) (the box that takes the water outside of your car from the a/c condesation.) underneath the glove box. Also a good time to spray some compressed air in that little rubber tube that takes the water outside your car.

Edit repeat all this a couple times a year. Espicially if you live in a humid area.

 

Ok so I went to Autzone and bought a spray bottle of "Odor Ban" and it's fore removing bacteria and odors. I sprayed it in that vent under the hood and the vents inside the car. Also under the glove box I saw it has a fan and I sprayed some in there. I'm not sure what your talking about when you said about the condensor box, could you be more specific please? i have an honda accord vtec 2000 model, my fan heater only works on the highest speed all other speed dont work or blow air at all...what do i do because the highest speed is too high for me
