I've got a buddy of mine who's an absolute idiot and doesn't think that you can run more than 7 lbs. of boost on a b16 with stock internals without blowing the motors
Someone prove him wrong please.

a guy at our shop runs 10psi wih stock internals and a block guard. basicly a drag kit with Tial wastegate and Vafc. He has run it hard like that for a couple of months and is starting to show signs of wear. Blowby is becoming an issue. Not that he cares.
i plan to run 7-8 psi on my Si, well once I get Hondata!!
Chris (DIRep) runs 12 psi on his LS with stock internals!!

my boy had a 00 ek with a b16 stock internals with drag3 kit and a few fuel upgrades. he was able to boost 12 all day but tried to go more and he blew it. he got it changed to an LSvtec and was boosting 12lbs. he never up the boost from 12lbs. and before he could try he got car jacked.

ok, I know you guys aren't gonna believe this.....but I've got a buddy of mine running 20+ pounds on stock bottom end, just a set of JE pistons, the rest is stock. He ran an 11.918 @ 121.662mph on 24.5 inch slicks, with full interior
that pic was taken just before his best run

It seems like the gasket would make the bottom end not stock though....

I've run 17psi or 18psi on a stock B16A.
Daily driving was set on 12psi, pump gas, and racing was usually around 16psi or so. Never hurt anything. The only reason the motor was damaged was from installer error on the injectors. 2 o-rings broke, causing me to run LEAN like a ************ during a race...heheh. Chipped the pistons, burnt the rings...and still ran the motor just as hard for 6 months...just smoked a bit, hehehe. Also, ran the bitch up to 9,000rpm every day, stock internals. Never any problems. No knocking, no nothing...only after the o-rings broke did a problem surface, but it didn't really have any effect on performance, other than the fun blue smoke.

I've been running 7.5-8.5-psi on my 4 year old zc (not including the mileage & time in japan) for the past year now, 100% stock internals. B series motors are known to be more stout than d-series, so you can definately tell your buddy it's all about the tuning.

Blowby is caused by worn piston rings that allow gases to leak down into your crankcase. I'm pretty sure this is what your PCV valve is for.
