turn key, nothing happens. try again 1-2 times then it starts
My 1998 SE 5spd sits in the driveway 6 days out of the week since I'm away at school. It'll get driven usually once a week, to and from my mom's work. Here's the deal, I put the key in and I don't immediately turn it (so I don't trip the immobilizer system, er something like that). Sometimes when I turn the key nothing happens, no sound but I'm not sure if any dash lights come on (wish I could check though). I have to turn the key 1-3 more times to get it to start, and this sometimes comes with a nice little grind from the starter, much like when one would try to start it when it already is.
I am aware of the ignition switch recall, but from what I've heard about that recall, this doesn't sound like a typical symptom of a faulty switch. Any help would be great, peace.

THANKS a bunch, it's going in for some work later this month as it is, so I'm glad to have hopefully pinpointed this problem. Peace
When you turn it look to see if the green key light on the dash flashes at you. It's quite common for the immobilizer to not recognize your key in some cars. In hot days, or humid/rainy days it was much worse for me.
